This is our most ambitious itinerary and only single-day summit attempt offering. Previous ski mountaineering experience along with significant ski/splitboard touring experience is required. This itinerary does not allow time for acclimatization, so please come with excellent fitness and recent experience climbing at least 3500-5000′ per day on skis to be successful. Expert-level downhill skiing ability in all conditions is required.

We bring over 40 years of experience guiding on Mount Shasta and are the original guiding company for this special mountain. We know Shasta better than anyone and aim to provide a professional and positive experience for all climbers.

Single Day Ski ITINERARY

Day 1
Flexible | Meet guide at the SMG Shop located at 305 Chestnut Street, Mt. Shasta, CA. This will serve as a shake down prior to the single day summit attempt. This will be a gear check and if time allows a short ski tour to assess conditions and ability.

Afternoon | Drive to the Bunny Flat trailhead (6,950’) for a short ski tour and climbing skills clinic, followed by a thorough review of equipment and our plan for the following day.

5:00pm | We stay in a local hotel or camp that night (accommodations not included). Summit Lofts, Cold Creek Inn, LOGE Mt Shasta all offer discount to our guests.

Day 2
1:00am | Meet at trail head, begin summit bid

Turn around time | For safety purposes, our turn around time on the mountain will be determined by current weather and conditions. The goal is to return to the trailhaed by 3:00-4:00pm
