Climb Overview
Perhaps the best 5.6 in California, this incredible 5-pitch climb, pioneered by SMG Founder Michael Zanger with Himalayan Legend Chris Bonington, climbs the imposing 800′ east face of Mt. Hubris aka “The Ogre” in Castle Crags State Park. With everything from slabs, face, cracks, and a dramatic and exposed alpine ridge finish, this climb is sure to satisfy everyone from new to experienced climbers.
Previous multi pitch experience is necessary and we can help you prepare for this ascent with a climbing skills day in advance.

Castle Crags climbs require a strenuous 2-3 hour uphill approach hike to access the rock and climbers should be in good physical condition.

Single Day Comisc Wall Climb ITINERARY
Day 1
7:00 am | Meet your guide at the SMG Shop at 305 Chestnut Street, Mt. Shasta, CA 96067. Please be punctual to allow time for gear check and briefing. Depending on weather and time of year we may choose to meet earlier or later.
8:00am | Drive to Castle Crags and approach hike 2.4 miles to the climb.
11:00am | Climb Cosmic Wall
3:00pm | Hike out and return to trailhead
