SMG Owners Chris and Jenn Carr Honored as Breat Cancer Fund Heroes

Shasta Mountain Guides owners Chris and Jenn Carr were recently honored by The Breast Cancer Fund at their 2008 annual Heroes Tribute

Celebrated since 1995, the Heroes Tribute is a way for the Breast Cancer Fund to honor and publicly thank those who have significantly helped to advance their work to eliminate the environmental and other preventable causes of breast cancer.

The Breast Cancer Fund honored Shasta Mountain Guides with the Andrea Rivinet Strong Voices Award and these kind words:

“As the owners of  Shasta Mountain Guides, Chris and Jenn Carr have led four of the Breast Cancer Fund’s Climb Against the Odds expeditions up Mt. Shasta, but they represent more than mountain guides to the organization. Chris and Jenn have provided both technical and emotional support to the breast cancer survivors and supporters who have climbed Mt. Shasta.  Their devotion to our mission and work and their care for our climbers is responsible for the strength of the team and for their safe return. Simply, Chris and Jenn embody Breast Cancer Fund Founder Andrea Ravinett Martin’s mantra Why We Climb: "We climb to demonstrate our commitment, to ourselves and to others, that we stand for a world in which cancer is a thing of the past. We stand for the health and wholeness of our bodies and that of the planet..."

When asked why they support The Breast Cancer Fund’s mission Chris and Jenn responded;

“We believe in the Breast Cancer Fund’s Mission wholeheartedly.  We also believe that business can be used to improve our world.  We see the difference Climb Against the Odds makes in the lives of the climbers first hand and we believe that the funds raised are being used to make the world a healthier place for all.  It is fabulous to us that what we do as guides can be used for the greater good.”
